Sheila Marie MacKinnon
Sheila Marie MacKinnon, B.Comm. (Honours), LL.B., is the managing partner of the Windsor Office of Shibley Righton LLP, having practiced law for 30 years. Shibley Righton LLP has offices in Windsor, Toronto and Hamilton.
Sheila brings a wide variety of skills and business experience to the Education and Public Law Group. Her practice focuses on education and public law and labour and employment matters. She has a particular interest in governance and policy development. Sheila is a regular speaker at education law conferences on governance; privacy law; conflict of interest; corporate by-laws; codes of conduct; conducting investigations; special education; CEO recruitment, performance reviews and contracts; and labour and employment matters.
As well, for many years, Sheila gained practical business experience and related insight into the delivery of health care as the operator and manager of her family-owned retirement home business in Essex County.
Sheila is currently a member of the Board of Governors for the University of Windsor and immediate past Chair of that board. As such, she has sat on every committee of the Board of Governors. She is the past Chair of the board of United Communities Credit Union (now Libro Credit Union). Sheila has volunteered on such other community and professional boards as the Canadian Association for the Practical Study of Law in Education; the Toronto Educational Opportunity Fund; the Crime Concern of Metropolitan Toronto; and the Essex Business Improvement Association. She is also a volunteer for the Trillium Gift of Life Network (organ and tissue donation).Sheila is a graduate Carleton University, York University (Osgoode Hall Law School) and member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, and the Essex Law Association.
She currently resides in Amherstburg, Ontario.
