Francophones, and Cultural and Linguistic Sensitive Care
The Erie St. Clair and South West Local Health Integration Networks are proud to offer you this free online learning program, that explores concepts related to cultural and linguistic sensitivity, information about the Francophone community, and the delivery of French Language Services (FLS). Patient experience, equity and quality of care will be the overarching themes linking modules together.
This online learning program is designed for Board and staff members of health and social service provider organizations. Students and volunteers will also benefit from it. A healthcare lens has been applied to this training, but concepts and learnings are transferrable to any sector.
This training is aligned with the LEADS framework and certified by the Canadian College of Health Leaders (20 Category II credits).
Goals of the learning program
The learning program is designed to support learners in:
- Gaining knowledge about cultural and linguistic sensitive care focusing on personal perspectives and inclusive health practices
- Learning about Francophones in Ontario: who they are, where they come from, how they obtain official-language rights as an official language minority population, and understanding health barriers that affect them today
- Understanding the active offer of French Language Services, what it is and how to implement it through a cultural and linguistic sensitive approach
