Transportation

Erie St. Clair, the southernmost LHIN, comprises Lambton County, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, and Essex County. It is home to over 640,000 people, or 4.8 per cent of the population of Ontario.

Sarnia Lambton comprises 41% of the land of Erie St. Clair, with 2,842.81 km2; Chatham-Kent contains 34% of the land, with 2,458.09 km2; and Windsor Essex is comprised of 25% of the land area, with 1,704.5 km2. The large size of the LHIN, especially the rural areas, contribute to the transportation challenges faced by these communities.

Health care related transportation remains a continuing challenge for providing access to health service providers in the Erie St. Clair region.
