Sheila MacKinnon Joins the Erie St. Clair LHIN Board

Sheila MacKinnon has been appointed as the newest member of the Erie St. Clair (ESC) LHIN Board of Directors. The official Order-in-Council issued by the Public Appointments Secretariat of the Province of Ontario took effect on March 8, 2017. Sheila will be attending her first Open Board meeting on March 28, 2017, at the ESC LHIN office located at 180 Riverview Drive, Chatham.

Sheila Marie MacKinnon, B.Comm. (Honours), LL.B., is the managing partner of the Windsor Office of Shibley Righton LLP, having practiced law for 30 years. Shibley Righton LLP has offices in Windsor, Toronto and Hamilton.

Sheila brings a wide variety of skills and business experience to the Education and Public Law Group. Her practice focuses on education and public law and labour and employment matters. She has a particular interest in governance and policy development. Sheila is a regular speaker at education law conferences on governance; privacy law; conflict of interest; corporate by-laws; codes of conduct; conducting investigations; special education; CEO recruitment, performance reviews and contracts; and labour and employment matters.

LHIN Board Members are selected using a skill-based process, with all candidates assessed for the required skills and abilities of the prospective role and the needs of each LHIN Board. Directors are expected to possess relevant expertise, experience, leadership skills, and have an understanding of local health issues, needs and priorities. 

The Erie St. Clair LHIN has a total population of approximately 636,020 people. It’s one of 14 LHINs across Ontario mandated to plan, integrate, and fund local health services including hospitals, community care access centres, community health centres, long-term care homes, mental health and addiction programs, and community support services agencies. The Erie St. Clair LHIN and its Board of Directors are responsible for approximately 1.1 billion dollars of health care services delivered in Chatham-Kent, Sarnia/Lambton, and Windsor/Essex.
